Hey everyone! Life’s been a whirlwind lately, full of exciting projects! Things are changing around here, and I can’t wait to share all the details with you soon. Stay tuned for some big announcements! In the meantime, I’m sharing something I’m truly passionate about: making staples from scratch.

Why From Scratch?

Like many of you, I’m on a journey to improve my family’s well-being. One of the biggest changes we’ve made is cutting back on processed foods. It started small, but the impact has been huge! I’ve discovered that making certain staples at home is not only healthier but also surprisingly easy and more delicious! These five recipes have become non-negotiable in my kitchen.

My Top 5 From-Scratch Kitchen Staples:

  1. Butter: Seriously, once you make your own butter, you’ll never go back. All you need is heavy cream, a food processor (or hand mixer), and a pinch of salt if you like. The taste is incredible, and you know exactly what’s in it.
  2. Waffles: Sunday mornings just got an upgrade. My waffle recipe is simple: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, eggs, milk, olive oil, and vanilla extract. The best part? I make a big batch of batter and store the leftovers in mason jars in the fridge. Easy waffles all week long!
  3. Brown Sugar Syrup: Say goodbye to store-bought “maple” syrup! This brown sugar syrup is a game-changer. It’s just brown sugar and water, simmered to perfection. So much better than the artificial stuff.
  4. Naan Flatbread: This recipe is a lifesaver. It uses sugar, water, yeast, flour, yogurt (homemade), salt, and oil. I love that I can freeze any extra dough for later. Naan is incredibly versatile – perfect for homemade pizzas, dipping in hummus, or enjoying on its own.
  5. Homemade Yogurt: My Instant Pot is my best friend for this one. For the first batch, you’ll need a starter, but after that, you just save 1/4 cup of your finished yogurt to use as a starter for the next batch. It’s so easy and much healthier than store-bought yogurt.

These five recipes have transformed my kitchen and my family’s health. I encourage you to give them a try. You might be surprised at how simple and rewarding it is to make your own kitchen staples.
